Ballet, Tap and Jazz Combination Class
This is a 45 minute per week dance class for 3 Year Olds who want to experience ballet, tap and jazz. Each week your young dancer will be taught beginner ballet steps, such as tendu, releve and plie as well as ballet barre, (including the first three ballet positions). At 3 years old, the young dancer is introduced to beginner tap steps such as brushes, heel-drops, shuffles, and more at the barre and in centre floor. The basics of jazz, including stretching are also presented during this class using popular children's music.

You will be happy to know that our instructors follow an exciting, effective and fun-filled 3-Year-Old curriculum that is customized to meet the needs of the 3-year-old dancer. Rising Stars' directors and instructors have been developing this program since 1986 and continually keep it updated and full of fun! This program combines fun and learning based on a 3-year old's attention span, movement and physical abilities, and is kept updated with the newest dance and music trends. Imagine jumping over clouds and wearing a crown! Our youngest dancers may not know it but they are learning the fundamentals and correct terminology as they have fun with creative imagery. Singing, props, routines, short stories, and steps that will help coordination development, are included in this wonderful curriculum.

Acrobatics Class

Acrobatics or as it is more commonly known, Acro, is a type of dance which combines tumbling with jazz technique.  It requires balance, agility and coordination. A defining characteristic of Acro is the smooth transitions between dance and acrobatic movements, combined with intricate body contortions and extreme flexibility. Exercises and skills such as crab walks, log rolls, forward rolls and cartwheels will be introduced at this level. Counter balance and partner work will be done in our more advanced classes.

The jazz portion of this class explores body isolations of the head, shoulders, ribcage, feet and arms.  It also encourages individual expression and the development of personal style.  Understanding body placement and centre are focal points of the acro and jazz class.

One Acro routine will be taught per year, per class.  The dance year culminates with a memorable recital routine at the beautiful State Theatre in New Brunswick.
